Devon and Cornwall is like heaven for outdoor enthusiasts, with activities ranging from a walk in the hills to surfing in the wild Atlantic swells. Here is a guide to some of the best things to do within a 50 mile radius of Woodovis Park.

Archery
On Wednesday evenings in high season we have a trained archery instructor running one hour sessions. Very popular with adults and children alike, it's a great opportunity to try something new.
Water Walking
Imagine being inside a giant see-through beach ball, then trying to walk accross a swimming pool! This madcap, hilarious activity is great fun and great excercise too. Water walking is available on Sunday mornings in high season.Cycling

Drake's Trail
The Drake's Trail has something for all age groups and fitness levels, starting with the new off-road cycling section between Tavistock and Plymouth. You can also download podcasts from the website for a guided audio tour!
The Granite Way
Cycle Okehampton to Lydford 11 miles, 18 km, via Meldon and Lake Viaducts. It is mostly traffic-free on a former railway line. Cycle hire is available too.
The Plym Valley Trail
Saltram House in Plymouth, to Clearbrook on the edge of Dartmoor (12 miles 17 km). This route follows an old railway line, so is easy cycling with a gentle incline on the way out.
The Camel Trail
Bodmin to Wadebridge is 8 miles; Wadebridge to Padstow is 6 miles. Again, this is a disused railway line following the route of the beautiful river Camel that is tidal.
Woodland Riders – Downhill Mountain Biking
The new world class tracks drop up to 500 feet in less than a mile, which means that riders virtually fly down the courses; surging and sliding over the course contours, taking on vast jumps and curving round sharp bends.

Cholwell Stables
This can be one of the most enjoyable ways of seeing Dartmoor. You can usually choose between gentle one-hour treks to all-day rides for those who are more experienced.
Dartmoor Pony Heritage Trust
This is a charity set up to raise funds and an awareness of just how special our Dartmoor Ponies actually are. They are a big part of the wonder of Dartmoor, as they roam wild all the year through.Water Sports

Canoeing on the Tamar
Enjoy a trip on the beautiful River Tamar from Morwellham to Cotehele. A guide is with you all the way, and the gently flowing river takes the strain out of it all!
Roadford Lake and Watersports Centre
Lakeside is a popular Angling and Watersports Centre with facilities for brown trout angling, sailing, windsurfing and kayaking. Instructors are on hand for tuition, self launch and hire.
Siblyback Lake
Part of South West Lakes Trust. A great place for hiring or learning to windsurf, sail or kayak.
Sound Cruising
See the sights of Plymouth on one of our harbour cruise vessels, passing RAF Mount Batten, along the famous Hoe. Take in the lovely views across Plymouth Sound, passing Smeatons Tower, Drakes Island and the beautiful Mount Edgecombe Park.Surfing

King Surf
Providing fun, professional and safe surfing lessons for all abilities. Based in Mawgon Porth which is a lovely unspoilt beach with just the one surf school operating there so no overcrowding guaranteed.
Big Blue Surf School
You can 'test the waters’ by taking a half-day or full day course or even longer. Fully trained instructors with high quality equipment. Feel the thrills and spills!!

Quad Biking Safari
Experience over 12 miles of woodland quad bike tracks set in the picturesque surroundings of South Devon.

Lydford Gorge (National Trust)
A beautiful woodland walk along the top of the gorge leads down to the spectacular 90 foot White Lady waterfall. This is not the easiest of walks, with plenty of steps throughout! It's well worth it though!
Becky Falls
This is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest. With a 60 acre private woodland estate and nature trails, its a great start for a day on Dartmoor.
Brentor
A short walk and climb from the car-park gives you a wonderful view right across Dartmoor and down to the sea at Plymouth. The church on the top of the rock has a lovely fairy tale history too!
Compassworks
Compassworks use an innovative and enjoyable approach to teaching map reading and navigation skills. They run Guided walks, and couses in traditional map and compass navigation and even GPS navigation!
Walking in the Tamar Valley
These routes offer walkers some of the most varied and rewarding walks in the South West, as well supporting the villages of the Valley along the way.
Geocache Trails
Geocaching is a high-tech treasure hunting game played throughout the world by adventure seekers equipped with GPS devices. The idea is to locate hidden containers, called geocaches, and then share your experiences online.
East Cornwall Trails
These routes take in the magnificent views at the summit of Kit Hill, the peaceful Danescombe Valley, the curious relics of Gunnislake Clitters and the colour of Bohetherick’s market gardening heritage.
Llama Walks
Llamas make ideal walking companions as they are very calm and gentle animals as well as being alert and intelligent.Fishing

Daily Mackerel and deep sea fishing trips are available from Phoenix Wharf in the Barbican, Plymouth. All equipment is provided for you to use.
Milemead Fisheries
