Access Statement

The aim of this access statement is to give a succinct description of the facilities available to people with disabilities on the park.

Woodovis Park is situated in the countryside.  It is 4miles from Tavistock which is the nearest town or shops.  Public transport is very limited and the nearest bus service is still 1.5 miles from the entrance to the park.  The park has gravel roads around it, most of which are gently sloping.  There is a half a mile long tarmac drive leading to the nearest road.  This is lovely to walk along, although there is one speed hump, which is clearly marked.  We ask that all drivers obey the speed limits around the park of just 5mph and a maximum of 15mph along the drive.  This makes it a pleasant and relaxed place to be.

Reception, which also combines with the shop, has level access.  It is only small and assistance is available there at all times.  On arrival, if reception is closed, there is a buzzer alongside which can be pressed to announce your arrival, whereupon a member of staff will attend.

There is 24-hour staff cover in an emergency.  Staff can be called either by phoning the site or by using the buzzer on the wall next to reception.  There is also 24-hour access to a public telephone.

All of the holiday homes on the park have between two and four steps up to them, but all have handrails attached.  Most have parking alongside, and the few that do not, have access for picking up and dropping off alongside.  All of the camping pitches have space for parking directly alongside the pitch.

The facilities block, housing the Ladies, Gents, Laundry and Chemical Disposal is kept well lit, but there is one step down, followed by one step up to each.  The steps are highlighted in white paint and grab handles have been fitted at each entrance of both ladies and gents.

The Tourist Information and Games Room has level access.

There is a unisex disabled toilet that has level access, which is located in the swimming pool building.  Any guests who require 24 hour access of this are given their own key.  This toilet is suitable to allow access for a wheelchair and has a hand basin in it too.  Should you require use of this, please ask a member of staff on arrival.

The swimming pool building has level access.  There are two sets of stepladders as a means of access into the pool.

Assistance dogs are welcome.  Dogs do have to be kept on a lead at all times on the park.

If you feel that you need help at any time during your visit, or upon arrival, then please mention this to a member of staff and we will be delighted to offer assistance.

Staff have a good awareness of the needs of people with disabilities as all staff have participated in the evolvement of our policy on helping people with disabilities.
