Low Mileage Days
These are all great days out that all start within a 15 mile journey of Woodovis Park. Save your car, your petrol and the environment by keeping close to home and enjoying a great variety of days out, from relaxing in beautiful gardens, to active and adventurous days too!

Morwellham Quay
This is a 1000-year-old riverside village, port and mine set in 200 acres that have been restored and brought back to life. This is just 3 miles from Woodovis.

The Tamar Valley Donkey Park
This makes a fun packed day out for all the family to see donkeys, rabbits, ducks, pigs, lambs and calves. Children can also have a free Donkey ride.

Trethorne Leisure Farm and Golf Course
Plenty of adventure play areas - even a ball pool for adults. Shire horse and pony rides. Falconry displays, crazy golf, indoor skittles and chess, and ten-pin bowling.

Buckland Abbey (National Trust)
This is a 13th century abbey, later converted into the home of Sir Francis Drake. Explore the legendary life of Sir Francis Drake and the Armada.
Cotehele House and Quay (National Trust)
This is a fortified medieval house and richly planted garden with a quay, mill and variety of woodland walks, a mile or so riverside walk from Calstock.
The Garden House
This is 8 acres of glorious gardens, including a two-acre walled garden, with some wonderful panoramic views over stunning South Devon landscape. Teas and light lunches are served in the house.
Lydford Gorge (National Trust)
A beautiful woodland walk along the top of the gorge leads down to the spectacular 90 foot White Lady waterfall. This is not the easiest of walks, with plenty of steps throughout! It's well worth it though!
Dartmoor
At 365 square miles, Dartmoor is the largest open space in southern England. It has wild open moorland, granite tors and wooded river valleys all of which make wonderful walking territory.
Tamar Trails
These routes offer walkers some of the most varied and rewarding walks in the South West, as well supporting the villages of the Valley along the way.
Geocache Trails
Geocaching is a high-tech treasure hunting game played throughout the world by adventure seekers equipped with GPS devices. The idea is to locate hidden containers, called geocaches, and then share your experiences online.
Drake's Trail
The Drake's Trail has something for all age groups and fitness levels, starting with the new off-road cycling section between Tavistock and Plymouth. You can also download podcasts from the website for a guided audio tour!
The Granite Way
Cycle Okehampton to Lydford 11 miles, 18 km, via Meldon and Lake Viaducts. It is mostly traffic-free on a former railway line. Cycle hire is available too.
The Plym Valley Trail
Saltram House in Plymouth, to Clearbrook on the edge of Dartmoor (12 miles 17 km). This route follows an old railway line, so is easy cycling with a gentle incline on the way out.
Barn Climbing
Excellent indoor climbing centre just a few miles from Woodovis. Barn Climbing Centre, Eastacott Barton, Milton Abbot, Tavistock, PL19 0QP
Tree Surfers
Tree surfing is an adrenaline-pumping, heart-thumping bird's eye experience. This amazing adventure up in the woodland canopy is just minutes away from Woodovis Park.
Canoeing on the Tamar
Enjoy a trip on the beautiful River Tamar from Morwellham to Cotehele. A guide is with you all the way, and the gently flowing river takes the strain out of it all!
Milemead Fisheries
Course and trout angling. A couple of miles from Woodovis, this is a place to relax and enjoy the tranquillity of the countryside around. With three lakes to choose from, you can have endless days of fun.
